Online Censorship

Despite the fact that free speech in India is a constitutionally guaranteed fundamental right that applies online as much as it does offline, instances of censorship are not uncommon. Restrictions on online free speech are imposed at times in a manner that is far from “reasonable”, be it through arbitrary and unilateral determinations of what is acceptable and what isn't, or by divulging precious little information as to why particular content was censored. In recognition of the importance of an unrestricted Internet to the functioning of democracies, and also of the significant compromises of free speech made by undue censorship, we work to ensure that online censorship is undertaken only in accordance with established law and that said law is fair, just and reasonable.
