On 6 December, 2013 an FIR was lodged against Bangladeshi author and columnist Taslima Nasreen for at the behest of one Tauqeer Raza Khan, a Muslim cleric, for "maliciously insulting the religious beliefs"(Section 295A, IPC) and "cyber crime"(Section 66A of the IT Act)
The author had posted some comments on her Twitter account over a meeting between the Tauqeer Raza Khan and Arvind Kejriwal. Pursuant to this, a news report of a vernacular daily which was based on these Twitter posts formed the basis of Khan's FIR.
Consequently, Nasreen filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India, again questioning the validity of Section 66A. The Apex court while allowing the petition directed that this petition too be clubbed with that of Shreya Singhal' s petition in Novermber 2012.
